I was asked to meet with someone tonight who is a teacher and would like to practice her English and also talk with me in Polish so I can specifically set aside time and just speak polish (AAAHH). Because I was going to this junior high/high school with the other two Americans I became one of the judges for the halloween dance. It was a lot of fun. I hope to do more of this in the future. After we were done judging and helping with the activities we just hung out with the kids. The teacher I was meeting had kids come over and talk to me in English so that they could practice. It was a lot of fun to just hang out and spend time answering and asking simple questions. I told the teachers I wanted to come back here! These are the kids we should be spending time with and helping. One of the other Americans asked if we could come back and do an American day so that they can learn dances, food, or work on speaking that day. Then we were also asked to go to a pretty small village so that the kids could get the chance to meet some Americans and practice their English. Just as a note English is required for students to learn here but not all of them have a lot of practice. The teachers themselves don't always speak it very well. I can't wait to go back and work with the kids and the teachers!! If you have any suggestions of things to teach the kids please post them! :)
The teacher I met with tonight has invited me over to her families house on Sunday. On Sunday her ENTIRE family gets together and they want me to join them! I can't wait it'll be quite the experience. In Poland it is a very popular thing to go to each others houses for socializing. I get invited all the time to houses and it is great company and great food! I ended the evening chatting with me roommate. We were discussing the amazing people that God has placed in our lives. These relationships don't always start off with a bang but have slowly been nurtured and have grown into such wonderful friendships now. I am thankful for each and everyone of you! I also what to say thank you for the encouraging emails that were sent this week! Thank you! Love and miss you!
