All Saints Day

Here in Poland Nov. 1st is all saints day. It is more of an all weekend thing. People travel to see family all over the country. Then people take candles and visit the graves of their family members. They will clean the graves, put flowers (fake and fresh) around the grave and light many candles. The idea behind this is to pray for for the souls of the family members that have died. It was explained to me that they do this because in the Catholic faith they believe that when you die you go to purgatory. By visiting the graves and praying for their souls they are hoping they will be released to heaven. Many of the families around here who are believers will go to be with their families to just remember the people that they have lost. Yesterday we went to a small cemetery near the Youth camps. I have seen this church up on the hill and have wanted to visit it so we walked around this area. Here is what it looks like this weekend.
