Psalm 107:4-24

Yesterday, we had our weekly teacher meeting for just the people who teach english for PROeM. We didn't get to meet but meeting again this week was so important! It was just what was needed. We talked through parts of Psalm 107. Using the Israelites as an example. They were always foreigners. So we looked at Psalm 107 for how several of them reacted. The first group wandered and couldn't find their fit and wasted their lives. Some Just stayed in the darkness and never left. Another group was rebellious. But then there was a group who went out and saw God's wonders. Adjusting a culture is so much like these groups. At different times I have felt all these things. At one point I felt like I could just survive the year. At another I felt like doing nothing and maybe just staying in my room. And maybe at a time or two I felt like just doing something crazy for the fun of it. As I adjust more and more I feel I am in a place with the 4th group. But the 4th group is where we want to work for and be in a place were we go out while it's uncomfortable and difficult and we don't feel confident, but we see God working there. Yes, there in the mess is where God is. :)

So while I am adjusting to the cultural aspects of life here it is helpful to step back and see who we are living for and what God is calling us to do. Our challenge is to reread all of Psalm 107 over the next few days.

*Currently there has been no sun here for almost an entire week. While this is a difficult thing I was able to find some beauty in all the rain here in a park that I walk through. I did see them selling a machine for artificial sun at the grocery store if i need it. ;)

  1. This week I was reading Ex. 17:13. Joshua was good at his use of the sword, and yet it was Moses prayer that made him successful. Then God had Joshua march around Jericho and not use his sword to give him victory. My lesson: God has to do the work, not my training.
