7:45 pm

It's 7:45 and I am ready for bed. If I didn't have to still plan my lesson for tomorrow evening's class I would sooo be asleep right now! This week has been so intense! In some ways it's been a whirlwind and yet at the same time I feel like the week should be over. It has been quite the challenge this week of teaching the language classes in the evenings. I don't get home until late and I'm exhausted when I do. Due to people getting sick, traveling, or meetings we have all had to cover different classes and it's been chaotic to say the least. We are working together to adjust.

Schedules are something you just have to forget when you leave the states!
I was always warned to not expect a schedule when we traveled to Afghanistan and that was pretty easy. But in Poland I didn't realize they weren't much for schedules. The reason I like a schedule is because it helps me remember things so that I don't miss something :). So adjusting to no schedules is a big adjustment especially when it comes to working. When I have dealt with that before it was easier because I was just traveling. I didn't live there and I didn't have to work there either. :)

Adjustments have hit me more this week. But I have had an amazing group around me to talk through things. The teachers at the school have wanted to make sure I was okay even though they couldn't understand what was wrong. Last night I spent the night at my directors house. It was a nice time of getting to talk about things. It wasn't that we solved anything but I was able to voice to my boss how I'm feeling. I didn't have to cover it up and put on a strong face. And because I was struggling they didn't tell me I wasn't going to cut it. I was told that having these issues doesn't sink in until the 3rd month. I guess I have always been an overachiever! Today was much better.

I have two evening classes which currently run over 4 evenings. We may be changing the times to have them on one day but we'll see how that works for my students first. In some ways I hope to just keep it this way so there isn't a lot each day day. But I kind of like the idea of then having tuesdays and Thursday evenings to myself so that i can relax, clean, or grocery shop. :) My classes are very interesting. The kids class 9-10 year olds only has 3 students. They are scared to death to even speak. Tonight went a lot better because I brought a lot more work for them and we played a game. Once we played the game they were warmed up and not feeling so stressed. The other class started yesterday I had 8 students and they were all very nice but NOT willing to talk. They were all so nervous that about half way through the class I gave them a 5 minute break (at this point we were already finished with everything I had planned because they didn't talk!). But no one left the room. So I went to make a copy and when I got back my director was in there chatting with them. Out of the 8 students 2 will be staying in my class! The other 6 realized that it was too hard even just by talking about greeting other people. So now i will have those two ladies and two teachers from school. The girls from school are some of my favorites and I am excited to have them with me!

Enough chatting for me tonight. I need to head to bed and get rested for MY polish lesson in the morning! Thanks for all the prayers and keeping up with the blog!

  1. We heard from a missionary tonight from Hungary. He learned Hungarian by carrying around a dictionary. Reminded me of you! Addie loved her gift!
