I write this post tonight a little conflicted. Last week my director came to me and told me that he received a phone call from a lady in Lodz. Proem has begun working on building a ministry there. They are taking the steps forward this year to actually have a presence in the town. This is big city and it's a lot of fun. I really enjoy going to this city. I like it a lot partly because I can travel there on my own. Anyways, my director told me about this call that this lady wants some native speakers to come into their school and that they may have about 4 groups to teach. I thought this was an interesting conversation but it didn't go any further than that.
On Sunday my director asked what I was doing this evening. I said nothing and he said that they have asked us to come to Lodz and meet with the parents who are interested and what we could do to help. The interesting thing is that the school knows their education program isn't good. And the principal is totally okay with the parents finding another teacher to use (english is required). Well my director John, Stephanie and I all drove to Lodz to meet with this lady at 5 to get the low down and then we met with the parents at 6. We had a rough idea that there would be about 4 classes to teach. We thought we could start off small and we had ideas of who could teach there. We walked into a room of about 40 parents all sitting and waiting for us to speak. After we spoke they decided that they would break into groups and decide when the best time for their kids to meet would be. Here's a picture of that.

In the end we walked away from this meeting with 8 possible groups. That many parents and kids were interested! We realized very quickly this wasn't going to be something that we could just pick a couple of people to do. This was something serious and we were quickly getting in over our heads. In the end we realized Steph and I needed to be the ones to teach the classes. The only catch is that I still need to be teaching at the school I am at with Proem. There are some ideas that I teach three days there and two days in Lodz. While we can throw around ideas. The reality of the work load is intense and overwhelming. I think this sounds amazing and I hate to tell them no because of the possibilities for relationships and beginning ministry in this town but to be able to get all of this together and start by October 1st is really insane. People are in and out of town by then and it would make coordinating all of this difficult. I'm not saying this couldn't be done. We all are taking time to pray for what God is really wanting us to do in this situation. I don't want us to push this just because it's a good opportunity. We are all sitting on this meeting and mulling things over and we hope to get together with the heads of proem and do some praying together to logistically look at if we could do this. We just have to meet and decide by Friday. I ask that you all would pray too for our decisions and discernment with this opportunity. Thanks!
Wow, we pray. That sounds like a lot.
