Yesterday morning my grandma passed away. Still as I write this it seems odd to actually be saying the words. A few weeks ago she had a stroke and wasn't able to recover from it. In these past few weeks I have tried to prepare myself yet it still comes has a shock.
My grandma died at the amazing age of 91. She was far from average although she would probably describe herself as that. Growing up she always was able to keep up with us kids. We grew up playing in the backyard and around 10 coming in for snack and wheel of fortune. She is probably the most avid and dedicated fan for General Hospital. She made almost all of my clothes growing up. She stocked her pantry with pickles for us kids to devour! In her freezer she always had chocolate cupcakes or krimpits. She taught me to cook and to crochet. I am lucky to have been warmed by her blankets that I will now cherish even more. She was a lover of politics and history. She also enjoyed volunteering at a hospital and tutoring. She kept her mind and body alert at all times. She later in life took up painting and was brilliant at this as well. My grandma was sweet and loved us all and she showed it! Her many years were not wasted but full of love and joy that she shared with others around her. While I know that all of our times must come to an end, I grieve the loss of a person that is so amazing.
That really was a lovely tribute. Thanks dear!
